Tattoo Aftercare

-Leave the bandage on for at least one hour. Bandage can be left on for up to five hours if sanitary washing facilities are not available anytime before. If the bandage sticks upon removal, wet the area with lukewarm water and slide the bandage off. Do not reapply the bandage.

-Wash the area GENTLY with mild, fragrance-free soap and water. Do this using clean hands and making sure to REMOVE ALL EXCESS OINTMENT, BLOOD, AND INK. Pat dry with a clean paper towel. DO NOT SCRUB. Apply a VERY THIN layer of Aquaphor.

-WASH your tattoo THREE or FOUR TIMES DAILY. After washing, allow the skin to breathe for five to ten minutes and apply a VERY THIN layer of Aquaphor for THREE DAYS.

-On the fourth day, apply a mild, fragrance-free moisturizing lotion (Lubriderm) THREE to FIVE TIMES DAILY until the tattoo settles into the skin. This normally takes between two weeks to one month.

-Expect to see your tattoo peel and flake. This is part of the healing process. Your tattoo may itch as well, but DO NOT PICK IT.

-NO SUN for two weeks. NO SWIMMING or SOAKING for two weeks. Showers are fine and ENCOURAGED (Wash thoroughly, just don't directly spray your tattoo for very long).

*The healing process is nearly as important as the insertion of pigment. Follow these guidelines as closely as possible and use common sense–your fresh tattoo is many small open cuts.
